Mexico City, also known as Ciudad de Mexico, is the capital of Mexico. 8 million people live in the city and was founded on March 18, 1325. Mexico City has deep Aztec roots; the city was built on the Aztec ruins of Tenochtitlan.

There are 16 boroughs in Mexico City and the city has grown in industry and technology and has urbanized greatly in the last 50 years.
